I would like to begin this piece by asking you, how many times in a day do you remind yourself of the absence of something? Or do you hear, read or talk about how jobs, increments and resources are scarce. This is a tricky one because it won’t be apparent. Do you speculate about the future and the possible disconsolation it may bring as the world is anyway not the same as it used to be? Increasing prices and inflation consumes conversations. And then there are many subtle ones such as “I don’t have time”, “Time flies when you are having fun”, “Hard work is the price you pay for what you need”.
Are these your own thoughts or borrowed from parents, society or a role model? They may have been seamlessly woven in the upbringing narrative. Countless examples thrown at you to prove the hypothesis that there is a lack or inadequacy, and our duty in this life is to fill the gap. Then there are social programs, which come with factory fitting that if you don’t work hard, or do waste time or notsave for a rainy day, you are sure to fail.
Could these be limiting beliefs fed into our system by our predecessors who operated from fear for as they didn’t have a pleasant experience in life? When they say, “There is no substitute for hard work”, they block other ways to reach happiness. There is a possibility that this was used by our ancestors who were farmers. If they did not work in the fields, they wouldn’t have got the fruit. Times have changed. Our mental programs have to undo the old algorithms.
Every time we come from the belief that there are limited resources and we have to make the most of what we get, we will never be able to create anything out of the ordinary. Ordinary will be what we live with. Its like cutting off yourself for what others believe or what we have been made to believe.
What if we were sent on this planet with a blank cheque, unlimited possibilities, infinite resources, unboxed ideas, no rules and with the power to receive anything that we dream of? And why would there be only one formula to success, money, joy, time and anything which you dream of?
We were born with immense potential, and with no set formula or algorithm. As we set our foot in the society, culture and family, the rules start to set. Boundaries are formed, fences are erected, in short, we are put in a box. We dream in that box basis our limitations, judgments, doubts, reluctance and plan B. How can you achieve success in its true sense with so much baggage? How can you fly with burden on your wings?
Lord Krishna while playing with his friends secretly ate mud. As friends are, they rushed to his mother to complain. Yashoda, his mother, scolded him, knowing his mischievous nature. This time Krishna challenged her to look into his mouth and she readily obliged. As she peered in his mouth, she was awestruck. What she saw was infinite. The entire universe, earth, star, moon, galaxies, wind, air-fire-water, the zodiac, oceans, mountains, senses, nature, all life forms, her village and herself.
Krishna represents true knowledge of self, we are the universe, unique and infinite. When we recognise our true self, unlimited potential, we can transcend the obstacles. Our body makes us limited and that’s how we have trained the mind. Come to think of the mind, is it inside or outside the body? This question should encourage you to investigate into are you creating your own unique possibilities or are you taking the crutch of a redundant, self-destructive belief system. Are you operating out of sheer fear or stepping out of your comfort zone to realise your potential?
Once you decide or even would like to experiment with your true potential, it is not going to be simple to let go of the old patterns and beliefs. So here are simple steps to get started:
- Write a goal or an objective. Make it simple, maybe a one liner. Short goals are easy to work with in the beginning.
- Write all your beliefs around the goal. Analyse these beliefs. Are they freeing or limiting you?
- List down the apprehensions, fears, hesitation or lack of trust regarding achieving the objective.
- Recognise that this list is the hurdle between your intention and achievement. You can either burn this list or tear it. This is a process of letting go of the obstacles.
- Once all the history is deleted, its time to make new neuro pathways. The next step is to repeat to oneself “I am an infinite being with the power of intent to achieve my goals. I receive with honour and trust” Repeat this as many times as you can each day for at least 21 days. This can be spoken or written. Whatever is comfortable/doable.
The endevour here to undo what you have been practicing for long and isn’t getting you anywhere. Its time to unbox yourself and create your new truth which is not bound by chains of ‘if’, ‘but’ and ‘how’. Just be in the create mode. Once you are energetically or mentally there with determination and deep intention nothing can stop you from receiving it. Try it!
